“I had to book this property about 10 months in advance because it’s so popular. What was the best thing about it? There are too many to list. There are so many amazing things about this property: Stellar views from literally every direction, the hiking, the hot tub, the almost 100 year old lodge with its gorgeous fireplace. I think one thing that needs a shout out is the pellet stove. Don’t pick the baseboard heat option (yes, this place even comes with heating options) use the pellet stove. I had my coffee every morning in that comfortable wicker chair, watching the sun rise over the jagged mountain peaks in front of that glorious stove. My dogs loved it too. And the hosts? Forget about it! You could rent every single property on Vrbo and not find hosts half as great as Rita & Scott. Love them!!! All I can say is one night I started a fire in that fireplace, my dogs were curled up in front of it and it started to rain on the metal roof. It was magical. “From the moment you cross the historic Barring bridge you are wondering what to expect. As you go up the hill and pull into the Harmony Lodge it’s like a peace of paradise. You are totally immersed in nature. A comfortable rustic cabin with all you need to enjoy rest. Books, board games, movies galore. I doubt you’ll do anything but take in the views and sounds of peace. A comfortable bed to be cozy on a rainy night. We also enjoyed the great fireplace in the evening. Stunning views in every direction, the quiet thunder of the water tumbling over rocks in the creek, the pristine historic cabin, and the luxurious serenity of having no neighbors within sight or sound. There are so many places to walk and explore. We spent the majority of our time on the deck, just absorbing the peacefulness of the forest and creek. And, oh, did I mention the hot tub? "A peaceful retreat. We stayed at Harmony Lodge to celebrate 10 years of being together. The cabin is beautiful, I love the history of the place, the gorgeous original windows are much bigger than the pictures look, and the views all around are breathtaking. Everything was nice and clean and they have some interesting old books we had fun looking through together. We met both Rita and Scott and enjoyed chatting with them, they are great hosts and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. And the hot tub, can't forget that, what is better than sitting in a hot bubbly tub looking out at snow covered nature? The real beauty though is the property! It's peaceful and secluded, you are surrounded by mountains and moss covered trees, the river which is a beautiful clean blue, it is exactly the kind of place where you can detach from busy life and just LIVE. "Accurate listing; adventure awaits. My family stayed at the cabin after our wedding. My youngest dog has never been more excited as he ran around the property, exploring trails and freedom. My older dog was able to navigate most of the property despite her hip problem. This was a fantastic retreat from the city. The grocery store in Gold Bar had everything we needed to stay in the mountains for a week. The sights were breathtaking, especially in the hot tub at sunset!" -Ashley (September 2016)
